UnSelected Photos

This is my first solo exhibition. However, since there are so many pictures in various forms and using different sizes of cameras, they don't seem to have much in common, so I decided to leave only Photos taken with a medium format camera only, plus the size of the shop and the amount of money in the wallet, the selection of photos from the selected photos occurred. The photos that were easy to select were those that were not taken with a medium format camera. The next difficult photos were those taken with the same camera. To leave only one photo for one camera, it was very difficult to select. Some photos were very regrettable but had to be cut out.

The problem encountered from the beginning of this photo exhibition was which photos to remove. After collecting a fair amount of photos, the number of photos exceeded the rough estimate, including the amount of money in the pocket, haha. Therefore, photos had to be selected. Photos had to be selected that were different from the idea or theme that had been set in mind. The photos that were removed were not because they were bad or disliked. It was very difficult to remove each photo. This photo was one of them.

I like taking pictures of important Buddha images in temples because they are beautiful in themselves and the surrounding atmosphere. I learned how to take pictures from CameraEyes, taught by Khru Somchai and Khru Jittima, who introduced me to important temples in Thailand and Bangkok. To take pictures in places like this, you have to go early in the morning, wait for the church or temple to open, when there are few people and no tourists yet. Meditate for a while, slowly absorb and appreciate the beauty, and then take pictures. It makes your mind calm, still, and comfortable.

Found objects is one of the things in photography that I like. We accidentally find objects, things, etc. and find them interesting, so we take a picture of the object that impresses us without having to think much about it. Just be satisfied with what we see. This type of photography may require a camera that is a bit more flexible so that we can take the picture immediately when we find it. Because if we are a little slower, the light may change, the object may move, or the opportunity may slip away. This picture was taken with a 35 mm camera, so it was excluded because the theme of this photo exhibition is to use only medium format cameras.

I really wanted to show this photo in this photo exhibition, but I don't know why it was excluded.

I really wanted to take this photo. I set up the camera, composed the composition as I wanted, measured the light, set up the settings, and then a woman came and brought food for the squirrels and birds in the surrounding trees. It seemed like she was there regularly. When she arrived, the squirrel came down from the treetops to her immediately. Then she moved from tree to tree, around the place where I was going to take the photo. I waited for a long time. She fed the squirrel and talked to it. She walked around for about half an hour. I was going to wait for her to finish her business and leave before I could take the photo. But then I thought that having her in the photo wouldn't hurt. So I took a photo with her. It was good. I got a feeling and compared the proportions of the trees and the surrounding atmosphere.

Taking architectural photos with a twin-lens reflex camera (TLR) that cannot lift the lens panel to get beautiful vertical architecture according to the desired composition, requires the camera to be tilted up, making the architecture look tapering upwards or tilted inward. In fact, this can be corrected in a photo editing program, but I would rather show the image directly from the photo shoot. I plan to take it again with a camera that can lift the lens to correct it right from the time the photo is taken.

This is a picture that I thought that if there was a photo exhibition, this picture would be included because I liked the atmosphere of the picture. It was a quiet morning with beautiful light. But unfortunately, because it was taken with a 35 mm camera, it had to be eliminated before I could prepare myself.

This is a recent photo taken with a 35mm camera. I tested the Werra I with a strange black and white film, ISO50. The results were better than expected. I thought it would show for sure, but I had to cut it.

The morning of the day I went out to take this photo was a very sunny day. The sky was beautiful with few clouds. The sunlight hit the white architecture, creating interesting shadows, contrasting with the dark blue sky. So I set up the camera and composed the composition. This camera can move the lens up quite a bit, which helps maintain the verticality of the architecture well. As I was about to press the shutter, I saw a monk walking past me just after alms round. I thought he must have walked in front of the camera for sure. I waited for the right moment to walk over to this spot before pressing the shutter to take the photo. There was another photo that I thought was more in line with the purpose of this exhibition, so I eliminated this one for now.

When I started this project, I roughly planned to use photographs taken with an old film camera, but I didn't specify that it had to be a medium format camera. This was the first photo I thought of to be used in this photo show. However, when the concept for this series came out, this was also the first photo that was rejected. What a shame!
